Calling all farmers … Surf’s up!

EDITOR’S NOTE: In April 1996, Holloway announced in The Miner newsletter it was helping bring the Internet to rural residents in the “758” calling area. Here is the original story…

Imagine clicking on a button and getting instant information about weather, crop prices, or the latest university research on soil amendments, insecticides and more — all from the comfort of your own home.

Well, imagine no longer — it is here.

H.M. Holloway has completed arrangements to bring the Internet (aka World Wide Web and the “Super Information Highway”) to the cities of Wasco, Shafter, McFarland and rural areas surrounding these cities. Anyone with a computer, modem and telephone can now join the millions of others already on the Internet.

The Holloway Internet Access System allows unlimited hours of use, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Installation and set-up are free and easy. At this time access is limited to those within the ‘758’ calling area, which makes the connection as a local phone call. Eventually Holloway hopes to expand the access area to include the entire Holloway sales area.

Holloway will have a “home page” with extensive links to areas of interest to the ag community, such as weather, marketing data, university research and of course, lots of information on gypsum and our other products.

Holloway will also offer individual personal and/or business home pages as a direct link to the Holloway main home page. In effect, the Holloway home page will serve as the gateway to the full extent of the Internet.
