Video: How to take a Soil Sample in Almonds

In this video from Holloway Ag, Soil Consultant, Marcia Cripps demonstrates step-by-step instructions for taking precise soil samples from an almond orchard. You can take a soil sample any time of year, but the start of fall is the best time to analyze soil to determine needed soil amendments.

To take your soil samples, you will need:

  • 2 Buckets
  • Sharpie
  • Paper bags
  • Knife/screwdriver (optional)
  • Auger
